23 Months

Wow! I can't believe that we are about to have a 2 year old! Walt is growing up way too fast. Here are some of the things he is into right now:

*His vocabulary has exploded and includes: bulldozer, bicycle, please, thank you, tractor, choo choo. The list really goes on and on.
*He loves jelly...I think my mom introduced him to it. Peanut butter sandwiches now must include jelly which he picks off first before eating the rest of the sandwich.
*He loves all things trucks, tractors, airplanes, buses, and cars. He calls all 18 wheelers "Mac" after Mac from the movie Cars.
*He loves to watch Dora and Blue's Clue's.
He loves to be outside with Eric working. Watering plants, helping with the porch.
*He loves swimming.
*He loves to stick his finger in my belly button to "Talk" to the baby! And he will rub my belly and say "Baby"
*He can count to two consistently. He counts 1-2-4-5-6.
*He loves to sing and can sing part of the ABC song. He loves to dance (See previous post)

Walt is a delight and I love being his mommy.

Walt sings "Twinkle Twinkle"

Here is Walt singing Twinkle Twinkle. The first is the opera version and the second is pretty normal until he starts asking for corn in the middle of it. Then there is the attack of the hot dog bun at the end. Pause our playlist over to the side to enjoy. Thanks for looking!

So you think you can Dance?

I love this show. I have been watching it from it's first season. I love Nigel and Screaming Mary! It makes me want to bust a move....well maybe that's pushing it! Walt and I were watching an episode yesterday and Walt proceeded to copy one of the break dancer's moves. Here's a clip! video

May Showers

As the saying goes: April showers bring May flowers but it seems as though we have had a lot more rain in May. The rain has pretty much halted Eric's efforts on our back porch, but slowly and surely it will get done. Even with all the rain, May has been busy for us here at the Meyer house.

*I let Eric cut Walt's hair and it turned out cute. It does make him look older than his 22 months but so cute none the less.

*I helped give a baby shower for my best friend Dawn. We cannot wait to meet sweet Baby Evie in late June!

*We traveled to Fair Hope over Mother's Day weekend and spent time with Uncle Scot and Aunt Susanna. They are in the process of buying a house. We even got in some beach time down at Orange Beach and the weather was perfect. Walt loved the ocean and didn't mind the sand or the water. He would scream at the crashing waves: "no no no" and then just giggle like crazy! Eric and I got some great sunburns and they are finally peeling and going away.

*I took Walt to Griffin, Georgia to help cousin Emma Grace celebrate her 4th birthday! Emma Grace is so smart and Walt loves playing with her. She had a Care Bears themed party at a local park and Walt discovered the joys of Gummy Bears here. I guess my efforts of shielding him from sugar are getting harder as he gets older!

*We have worked a lot as well. The hospital has been very busy. Our patients seem sicker and they seem to stay longer. I guess that is job security.

*Eric took Walt up to the lake for the weekend while I worked. Walt loved playing with cousins Callie (5) and Ryan Charles (4). And of course hanging out with Gin, Papa, Aunt Cathy and Uncle Jon!

*Today, Memorial Day Walt and I are hanging out at the house hoping for some sunshine, maybe some BBQ too. Eric is working today. We thank all of the service men and women for protecting our country everyday!

I guess the greatest thing about May showers is that we are expecting an addition to our family in January 2010.

We are so blessed by this little miracle. I have been slightly nauseated and extremely tired. I guess all to be expected. We look forward to what lies ahead of us in 2009 and getting to prepare Walt to be a Big Brother. He is going to be such a big helper!

Blessings to all!

All in a day's work!

Saturday was very productive in the porch building world here at the Meyer house. Eric's parents came down and gave us a hand. Gin played with Walt while III and IV bought wood and put their handy skills to good use. Walt got in on the action too trying to make sure everything was level. At this rate, the porch might be up by the end of May!

Here is the cute craft apron Susan made for me. She let me pick out the fabric and voila.....a reversible apron...Cuteness!

Ruptured!

That is exactly what I said when our pediatrician told me that Walt's eardrum had ruptured. No wonder he has been so pitiful this week. It never occurred to me (the pediatric nurse mom) that he had an ear infection. His fever wasn't that high, he never pulled on it, who would have thought! Eric and I got up to go to work this morning and as I was getting Walt dressed and washed up for daycare I noticed the ooze from his ear. I called in sick again to work and waited for the doctor's office to open. Walt is a good little patient. He didn't mind Dr. S. looking into his ears but that silly tongue depressor...it gets him every time. So, now we have 10 days of oral antibiotics and 7 days of ear drops. Say a little prayer for us that it heal by itself and we won't be taking a trip to the ENT! Here's a picture of Walt administering his own meds! Maybe he will grow up to be a doctor!

The Back Porch

I wish I could say that I was in Destin at the Back Porch but instead I am home sick today. I'm not actually sick. But sweet Walt is. He's been running a low grade temperature for 48 hours despite being loaded up on Tylenol and Ibuprofen. He has actually started feeling somewhat better because he keeps asking to go "Bye bye." That basically means: I want to go outside and play in my car! So, I took him out in the backyard and we played. I got this cart from Costco a couple of months ago and Eric says it is taking up space in the garage but it sure has come in handy lately. Let's see...I've picked up carts full of sticks from the yard and dumped them in the trash. It was very handy at Kids Market a few weeks ago and it carried all of my great clothing finds so I didn't have to listen to the rustle of the laundry basket being pulled across the floor with a belt (that's what most people do) I even got a lot of comments on my cart. So, I believe the cart was a wise investment! Walt wanted to ride in it but when I put him in he didn't like it so much. He wanted to ride in the wheel barrow instead. He is definitely all boy! Eric started working on our soon to come screened porch. I think he's already made 3 trips to Home Depot in about 24 hours. This might take a while but give him credit....it will be a great addition for the summer!
